• Always consider yourself an employee. If you are only working towards your own goals and under no supervision, take your bills or expenditures and consider yourself to be employed by these costs. Take some time to consider your financial goals or requirements and then look at where you are currently. If you feel that you aren't achieving as much as you could, take responsibility and imagine that your "employer" requires a higher quality of work or work-ethic.
• Have a clear idea of exactly how much should be accomplished each day. Consider any other duties you might have and create scheduled breaks throughout the day as you deem necessary. If you really want to get as much done as possible, reflect on your current work for a couple of minutes during your break - often times all an author might need is a couple of minutes away from the actual assignment itself to feel ready to begin working again.
